Canada’s federal government announced a pilot project to establish an online Open Data Portal on Thursday.

The intent is to provide the general public with a single point of access to information produced by ten government departments. Ottawa said the new initiative comes as a result of public consultations on the Digital Economy Strategy, which began in May of last year and lasted for two months.
