House arrest for scheme to prevent deportation

A Winnipeg woman who impersonated an immigration official to save her boyfriend from deportation has been sentenced to four months house arrest.

“I just thought I could help him,” 36-year-old Avrill Tyrell told court. “I really wasn’t thinking about what the consequences would be.”
