“We forget that so many of us or our families arrived here in similar circumstances,” said Clarkson. “And if the people who answered, ‘Send them home’ in that poll were to have these refugees next door, or in their neighbourhoods, they would help. That’s what we do. It reminds me of that song: “Your lips tell me ‘no, no,’ but there’s ‘yes, yes,’ in your eyes.”
