Ontario cabinet minister says immigrants are our future

TORONTO - Federal and provincial governments are funding “bridging” programs to help immigrants land work in their fields.

“These are the newcomers who are going to fill the gaps in our labour force as our baby boomers retire and our birthrate falls,” Ontario Citizenship and Immigration Minister Charles Sousa said Monday. “In five years, we’ll be entirely dependent on immigration to meet Ontario’s labour market growth.”
