Hundreds of Namibians seek asylum in Canada

CLOSE to 2 000 Namibians have applied for asylum in Canada during the first nine months of this year.

Data provided by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) shows that more than 750 claims for refugee status have already been referred to the IRB and 1 027 claims are still pending. Namibia is listed as the third largest source of new refugee protection claims by Canada. Hungary and China are first and second on the list.
