Canadian with a passport for trouble loses court battle

Babatope Felix Adewole has a complicated relationship with passports. While travelling on his Canadian passport, Mr. Adewole was found with 16 Nigerian passports and someone else’s identity card strapped to his leg at Heathrow airport in London, England.

After arrest, a plea deal, and two years in prison, Mr. Adewole returned to Canada and promptly reported his Canadian passport as lost. Then, he said, he found the passport while mowing his lawn but it was now damaged.

When he applied for a replacement, Passport Canada sent its regrets: He would not be granted another passport for the next five years.
